Buttered pretzel
Everyone in Munich buys a Butterbreze, and yet nobody compares the prices. So far there is only one price. Anyone can help with the app, a photo of the menu or a quick entry is enough. As soon as there are enough prices, the range for all of Munich goes here.
Leberkässemmel
Not a single price yet. A Leberkässemmel is a thick slice of Bavarian meatloaf in a bread roll. At the butcher’s the price is usually on the sign at the counter and almost never online. Next time you get one, add the price.
How it is worked out
So that everyone can see where a number comes from, here are the rules:
- Only prices someone has seen. A price only goes on the map if somebody saw it on the menu, at the counter or on a sign. Estimates, leaflet offers and online shops don’t count.
- New prices only after approval. A new price only shows up once I have approved it. Every price has a source and a date.
- Where the first prices come from. Most of them come from current menus on the places’ own websites, each with a link to the menu. New prices come from people who were there.
- Median, not average. “Median” means half the places charge less and half charge more. That way a few very expensive places don’t skew the picture.
- Only from 5 prices up. A range or a median only appears once there are at least 5 prices. The same goes for neighbourhoods and breweries.
- City of Munich only. The numbers are for the city itself. Prices from just outside show up in the app but are not counted here.
- Deals kept apart. Weisswurst with a pretzel included is not compared with the pair on its own. Prices that only apply at certain times are marked.
- Neighbourhoods from OpenStreetMap. Which neighbourhood a place belongs to comes from its location in OpenStreetMap. Sometimes that is a city district, sometimes a smaller area.
Within the city there are currently 202 prices in 121 places, as of 8 October 2026. Another 20 prices come from outside the city. The app shows them, but they are not part of the numbers on this page. You run a pub or a bakery and one of your prices is wrong? Write to kontakt@silverstone-consulting.com and I will fix it.
