Beer prices in Munich: what a Halbe costs right now
The half litre of Helles in 85 Munich pubs, every price with a link to the menu. With the cheapest places, by brewery and by neighbourhood.
A Halbe Helles, the half litre of pale lager that Munich runs on, currently costs between €3.80 and €6.80 here. The median is €5.00, so in half of the places you pay less than that. These are 85 prices from within the city of Munich, as of 8 October 2026. Add the 18 prices from just outside the city and it would be 103, with a median of €4.90.
To be honest, so far these are mostly traditional pubs and beer halls, and quite a few of them are in the old town. It is not yet an average for all of Munich, but it is a pretty good first look.

A few words you will see on the menu
- Halbe is half a litre, the normal glass in a Munich pub. That is what all prices on this page are for.
- Helles is the pale lager almost every Munich brewery makes. Wheat beer and dark beer are not counted here.
- Maß is a full litre, the size you get in beer gardens and beer halls.
- Pfand is a deposit on the glass, which you get back when you return it. Where a price comes with a deposit, it says so next to the price.
Where the prices come from
What counts is the Halbe Helles of 0.5 litres, exactly as it appears on the menu. Almost all of the first prices come from current menus on the pubs’ own websites, each with a link to the menu, and new prices only go live after I have approved them. The full method is on the price index page, and every single price is in a spreadsheet you can download. You are welcome to use the numbers, just name “Munich Prices” as the source.
